# How to Generate Your CoinJar Tax Report with KoinX

## Connect CoinJar to KoinX

**Direct Connect links your CoinJar account to KoinX instantly - recommended for most users.** Use File Upload if you prefer manual control over your transaction history.

    ## Connect CoinJar directly to KoinX

    <Steps>
      <Step title="Open KoinX Integrations">
        Log in to [app.koinx.com](https://app.koinx.com) -> **Integrations** -> **Add Integration**.
      </Step>

      <Step title="Search for and select CoinJar">
        Type **CoinJar** in the search bar and select the exchange.
      </Step>

      <Step title="Click Connect CoinJar">
        Select the **Direct Connect** option and click **Connect CoinJar**. You will be redirected to the CoinJar login page.
      </Step>

      <Step title="Sign in to CoinJar">
        Enter your CoinJar login credentials and click **Sign In**.

        <Warning>
          Do not close the browser tab until the integration is fully complete. Closing early interrupts the sync and your transactions will not be imported.
        </Warning>
      </Step>

      <Step title="Wait for sync to complete">
        You will be automatically redirected back to KoinX. All your CoinJar transactions will be imported within a couple of minutes. A confirmation notification appears once the integration is complete.

    <Check>
      **Done.** KoinX imports your full CoinJar transaction history, classifies each transaction, and prepares everything for gains calculation and report generation.

    Once your CoinJar data is in, head over to [Tax Reports](https://app.koinx.com/tax-report) on KoinX - your capital gains, income breakdown, and country-specific crypto tax report are ready for you there.

    ## Direct Connect notes

      * **Always select Direct Connect** when using this method - other options will not import your full history.
      * **Do not close the tab** until you receive the confirmation notification confirming the sync is complete.

    Export both CSV files from CoinJar and upload them together in KoinX. You need the Purchase and Sales file and the Deposits and Withdrawals file to cover your complete history.

    ## Upload to KoinX

    <Note>
      If you used the **File Upload** tab above, follow these steps to complete your import. Direct Connect users can skip this - your sync is already done.

      <Step title="Open KoinX Integrations">
        Log in to [app.koinx.com](https://app.koinx.com) -> **Integrations** -> **Add Integration**.
      </Step>

      <Step title="Select CoinJar">
        Search for **CoinJar** and select it.
      </Step>

      <Step title="Upload both files">
        Click **Upload** and select both your CoinJar CSV files - Purchase and Sales and Deposits and Withdrawals. Multi-select works.
      </Step>

      <Step title="Submit">
        Click **Submit**. KoinX processes your files and imports your full transaction history.
      </Step>

    <Check>
      **Done.** KoinX reads your transactions, classifies them, deduplicates overlapping records, and prepares everything for gains calculation and report generation.

    Now that your CoinJar files are in, head to [Tax Reports](https://app.koinx.com/tax-report) on KoinX - your capital gains across trades, deposits, and withdrawals are already calculated and your report is ready to download.

      **Never open CoinJar CSV files in Excel or Google Sheets before uploading.** This corrupts the file format. If you already did - re-export a fresh copy from CoinJar.

    Direct Connect is recommended for most users. It connects instantly with one click and requires no file management. Use File Upload if you want manual control over which transactions are imported or if Direct Connect is unavailable in your region.

    Yes. CoinJar caters to users in the UK and Australia. KoinX supports tax report formats for both HMRC (UK) and ATO (Australia). After connecting, select your country in KoinX to generate the correct report.

    Yes. The Purchase and Sales file covers your trades and conversions, while the Deposits and Withdrawals file covers your on-chain activity. Uploading only one file will result in an incomplete transaction history and inaccurate tax calculations.

## Troubleshooting

    Clear your browser cache and cookies, then retry the connection from **KoinX** -> **Integrations** -> **CoinJar** -> **Direct Connect**. Ensure pop-ups are not blocked in your browser, as the redirect requires a new window to open.

  <Accordion title="CSV file export email has not arrived">
    Check your spam or junk folder for the email from CoinJar. If it has not arrived after a few minutes, log in to CoinJar and re-export the file. Ensure your registered email address is active and accessible.

  <Accordion title="CSV file won't upload to KoinX">
    Re-download a fresh copy of the CSV from your CoinJar email without opening it. Opening the file in Excel or Google Sheets reformats date and number columns, breaking the file structure KoinX expects.

  <Accordion title="Transactions are missing after upload">
    Confirm both the Purchase and Sales CSV and the Deposits and Withdrawals CSV were uploaded together. Missing either file leaves gaps in your transaction history. Re-upload both files in a single KoinX session.

  <Accordion title="KoinX is showing duplicate CoinJar transactions">
    Check **KoinX** -> **Integrations** for duplicate CoinJar connections and remove any extras. If both a Direct Connect sync and a CSV upload were done for the same period, remove one and retain only a single connection method.

  <Accordion title="Wrong option was selected during Direct Connect integration">
    Disconnect the existing CoinJar integration from **KoinX** -> **Integrations**, then reconnect from the beginning and ensure you select **Direct Connect** before clicking Connect CoinJar.
