# How to Generate Your CoinMate Tax Report with KoinX

## Connect CoinMate to KoinX

**API Key syncs your full CoinMate transaction history automatically - no file exports needed.**

    ## Generate your CoinMate API key

        Go to [coinmate.io](https://www.coinmate.io) and sign in to your account.

        Click the **profile icon** in the top right corner and select **API**.

      <Step title="Set Account Info permission and generate">
        In the API section, enable **Account Info** permission only and click **Generate New Keys**.

          Enable **Account Info** permission only. Never enable trading or withdrawal permissions on an API key connected to a third-party service.

      <Step title="Copy your API key and Secret Key">
        Copy both your **API Key** and **Secret Key** and store them securely. The Secret Key is shown only once.

    ## Connect CoinMate to KoinX

        Log in to [app.koinx.com](https://app.koinx.com) -> **Integrations** -> **Add Integration**.

      <Step title="Select CoinMate">
        Search for **CoinMate** and select it.
      </Step>

      <Step title="Paste your keys and import">
        Paste your **API Key** and **Secret Key** into the respective fields and click **Import Now**.
      </Step>

    <Check>
      **Done.** KoinX begins syncing your CoinMate history. Large accounts may take a few minutes.

    Once your CoinMate data is in, head over to [Tax Reports](https://app.koinx.com/tax-report) on KoinX - your capital gains, income breakdown, and country-specific crypto tax report are ready for you there.

      * **Account Info permission only** - this is the read-only configuration CoinMate requires for third-party integrations.
      * **Label the key as KoinX** - if you manage multiple API keys in CoinMate, naming it "KoinX" helps identify which service is using it.
      * **Sync from account creation date** - transaction history must cover the full period from when you opened your CoinMate account with no gaps.

    Account Info permission only. This is CoinMate's read-only configuration and gives KoinX access to your full transaction history without the ability to place trades or move funds.

  <Accordion title="Will CoinMate show my Secret Key again after I leave the page?">
    No. CoinMate displays the Secret Key only once at the time of creation. Copy it immediately and store it securely. If lost, delete the key from the API section and generate a new one.

  <Accordion title="Do I need to report my CoinMate transactions for tax purposes?">
    Yes. If you have a crypto portfolio and engage in any digital asset transaction through CoinMate, you must report taxes to the relevant authority. Not paying taxes can lead to penalties and restrictions on your account.

    No. CoinMate does not provide tax-ready reports. By connecting your CoinMate account to KoinX via API key, your full transaction history is imported automatically and a compliant, country-specific tax report is generated within minutes.

## Troubleshooting

    Confirm the key was generated with Account Info permission only in **CoinMate** -> **Profile** -> **API**. Delete the credentials in KoinX and re-enter both values carefully - copy directly from CoinMate to avoid invisible characters.

  <Accordion title="Transactions are missing after sync">
    Ensure the transaction history covers the full period from your CoinMate account creation date with no gaps. Trigger a manual re-sync from **KoinX** -> **Integrations** -> **CoinMate**. If records are still missing, disconnect and reconnect with a fresh API key.

  <Accordion title="API sync keeps failing">
    Check the CoinMate platform for ongoing maintenance. If the platform is operational, verify the key is still active under **Profile** -> **API**. Regenerate if expired, re-enter credentials in KoinX, and trigger a fresh sync.

  <Accordion title="API connection worked before but stopped syncing">
    CoinMate API keys can become inactive following account security changes. Log in to CoinMate, check the key status under **Profile** -> **API**, and regenerate if inactive. Update the new credentials in KoinX under **Integrations** -> **CoinMate** -> **Edit**.

    Delete the existing key from **CoinMate** -> **Profile** -> **API**, generate a new key with **Account Info** permission only, and reconnect in KoinX with the new credentials.
