# How to Generate Your HitBTC Tax Report with KoinX

## Connect HitBTC to KoinX

**API Key syncs your full HitBTC transaction history automatically - no file exports needed.**

    ## Generate your HitBTC API key

      <Step title="Log in to HitBTC">
        Go to [hitbtc.com](https://www.hitbtc.com) and sign in to your account.
      </Step>

        Click the **Settings icon** in the top right corner.

      <Step title="Open API Keys and add a new key">
        Click **API Keys** on the Settings page and click **Add New API**.
      </Step>

      <Step title="Set read-only permissions">
        Set the correct read-only permissions before saving the key.

          Enable read-only permissions only. Never enable trading or withdrawal permissions on an API key connected to a third-party service.

      <Step title="Copy your API key and Secret Key">
        Copy both your **API Key** and **Secret Key** and store them securely. The Secret Key is shown only once.

    ## Connect HitBTC to KoinX

        Log in to [app.koinx.com](https://app.koinx.com) -> **Integrations** -> **Add Integration**.

      <Step title="Select HitBTC">
        Search for **HitBTC** and select it.
      </Step>

      <Step title="Paste your keys and import">
        Paste your **API Key** and **Secret Key** into the respective fields and click **Import Now**.
      </Step>

    <Check>
      **Done.** KoinX begins syncing your HitBTC history. Large accounts may take a few minutes.

    Once your HitBTC data is in, head over to [Tax Reports](https://app.koinx.com/tax-report) on KoinX - your capital gains, income breakdown, and country-specific crypto tax report are ready for you there.

      * **Read Only is required** - keys with broader permissions may be rejected by KoinX as a security measure.
      * **Secret Key is shown once only** - copy it immediately at the time of creation and store it securely.
      * **Use Sync Now** to pull the latest HitBTC transactions into KoinX at any time from the Integrations panel.

  <Accordion title="What permissions does the HitBTC API key need for KoinX?">
    Read Only permissions only. This gives KoinX access to your full transaction history without the ability to place trades or move funds. Never generate an API key with broader permissions for a third-party service.

  <Accordion title="Will HitBTC show my Secret Key again after I leave the page?">
    No. HitBTC displays the Secret Key only once at the time of creation. Copy it immediately and store it securely. If lost, delete the key from API Keys in Settings and generate a new one.

  <Accordion title="Do I need to report my HitBTC transactions for tax purposes?">
    Yes. All crypto activities are subject to tax under the regulations provided by the relevant authority in your region. If you are an investor or trader in the crypto market, you must report your HitBTC transactions for tax purposes.

  <Accordion title="Does HitBTC provide tax reports directly?">
    No. HitBTC does not provide tax-ready reports. By connecting your HitBTC account to KoinX via API key, your full transaction history is imported automatically and a compliant, country-specific tax report is generated within minutes.

## Troubleshooting

    Confirm the key was generated with read-only permissions in **HitBTC** -> **Settings** -> **API Keys**. Delete the credentials in KoinX and re-enter both values carefully - copy directly from HitBTC to avoid missing or invisible characters.

  <Accordion title="Transactions are missing after sync">
    Ensure the transaction history covers the full period from your HitBTC account creation date with no gaps. Trigger a manual re-sync from **KoinX** -> **Integrations** -> **HitBTC**. If records are still missing, disconnect and reconnect with a fresh API key.

  <Accordion title="API sync keeps failing">
    Check the HitBTC platform for ongoing maintenance. If the platform is operational, verify the key is still active under **Settings** -> **API Keys**. Regenerate if expired, re-enter credentials in KoinX, and trigger a fresh sync.

  <Accordion title="API connection worked before but stopped syncing">
    HitBTC API keys can become inactive following account security changes. Log in to HitBTC, check the key status under **Settings** -> **API Keys**, and regenerate if inactive. Update the new credentials in KoinX under **Integrations** -> **HitBTC** -> **Edit**.

  <Accordion title="Margin or futures trades are missing from KoinX">
    Confirm read-only permissions on the key include access to all account types. If trades are still missing after re-syncing, generate a new API key and reconnect in KoinX.

    Check **KoinX** -> **Integrations** for duplicate HitBTC connections and remove any extras. If a file was previously uploaded for the same period, delete those transactions before re-syncing via API.
